A Message from Cynthia Scheinberg, Dean of the School of Arts, Humanities, and Education
Because of the disciplines represented in the School of Arts, 人文与教育(SHAE), we have a special role in the academy to foreground the literatures, 历史, 哲学, arts and educational resources on legacies of slavery, 压迫和种族不公正, as well as center the voices and the experiences of Black and Brown lives in our country. I am so proud that we have such strong SHAE leadership in so many departments on issues of social and racial justice, and faculty throughout the school for whom this work is central to everything they do in their classrooms. 在这里, I wanted to highlight some of the resources our faculty suggest regarding the ongoing social protest against police brutality and racial justice in this country, 还有反种族主义的资源. 院长, I support any and all work that can grow our individual and collective capacity to dismantle oppression and foreground racial justice in SHAE courses, 程序和教学法, as well as in our wider world and country-- all in the name of helping our students and ourselves become (or continue to work as) effective agents of change.
